It’s back to school time!

LAUSD began the new school year last week but this year looks very different. As with many school districts throughout the rest of the country, LAUSD has moved to 100% distance learning. Distance learning is difficult for many families but for our students who do not have access to computers, internet service and support at home, it is particularly challenging. Surveys have already shown that since LAUSD moved to distance learning in mid-March, underserved students are quickly being left behind.

Hope Street has expanded its After-school program to a full-day program so that students can access their remote learning curriculum at the Center. Students have their own laptop and a quiet and safe place to learn. Staff are also on hand to help students navigate the school’s virtual learning platforms and with schoolwork. We are serving up to 50 students daily. Our students are hardworking, dedicated and resilient. With the support of our staff, we know they will succeed this year in spite of the circumstances.

Our donors make the After-school program possible and we are grateful. If you’d like to help support our students this school year with school supplies or other learning materials, click the Donate Now button above.
